Originally formed in 1950 under the name of Ottawa Lathing, Plastering and Acoustical Association by founding members Christopher and Day, Canadian Johns Manville, Dominion Sound, Alex Devlin, Arthur Lenton and Sons and Murphy and Morrow Ltd. The Organization was organized in order to deal in group strength with the threat of a union strike as well as to discuss mutual problems and concerns of the industry of the day. Most of the by-laws were taken from the Ontario Plastering Association and amended to suit the new Organizations needs. The organization has been keenly interested in labour relations and union negotiations to this date. The group took a very active part in revamping labour negotiations with the Ontario Government and The Franks Commission in 1978. The association later changed its name to Walls and Ceilings Contractors Association (WACCA) in 1976.
